Angel of the North Sculptures

As part of our Geography topic we have been looking at famous buildings and structures in the UK.
Locally, we have the 'Angel of the North' - which is a contemporary sculpture by Antony Gormley.
Year 5 were tasked with making their own 'Angel of the North' sculptures.
First, we used thin flexible wire to create the outline of our angels. Next, we wrapped tin foil around the body to bulk and fill the spaces between the wire.
Now we were ready to start applying the clay. We found that the weight of the clay meant that we needed to ensure it was applied thinly and that we repositioned the sculpture to keep it upright.
Once the clay had dried, we mixed a rusty brown colour paint to  replicate the surface of the 'Angel of the North'.
