Collaboration Challenge

Classes

Year 5 have been working in PSHE on being good team mates and working on their cooperation skills. They were asked to think carefully about their listening and complying skills just as much as their leadership and organisational ones.

Each group had the challenge: What is the tallest tower you can build from 6 sheets of newspaper and sticky tape?

Check out the pictures below to see how they all got on.

After the activity we talked about difficulties with this challenge; emphasising the challenge part of the task. The class said the activity was very hard because the material used was extremely flimsy, making a tall structure incredibly hard to achieve. They did also discuss and describe the attributes needed to work collaboratively in an effective manner and learned it was just as important to listen and learn as it was to lead and explain.
