We began our lesson by looking at the song, 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' by U2. We leaned that the song has lots of repeating patterns layering together, with the melody being sung over the top. We listened to the song and found out that the repeated pattern is called an ostinato.
Using our bodies, voices, recorders and even the glockenspiels, we began to work on composing our very own ostinatos individually and then in groups.
After that, we began playing the song's rhythm on the glocks with Susie's guidance and expertise, we actually improved quite a lot.
Check out the videos below to see our progress from our first effort through to our final ensemble performance accompanied by Susie on the ukulele.
