For National Fieldwork Week, year 5 visited Northumberland Park. We used maps to look at routes you could take and decided together on the safest route. On our way to the park, we looked closely at human geography in the urban area of North Shields. We found that nearer to the park, the streets had trees such as ash and birch, where as the ones nearer the town centre (and our school) had very few.
At the park we thought we thought we would find lots of physical geography, however, we surprised to find that it was full of human geography, making the park an accessible place for people to visit. We also examined the flora and fauna and identified samples of these back in school.
