Our Villages

Classes

As part of our literacy this term, Year 5 pupils received a ‘letter’ from the BBC stating that their villages had been short listed for winning a prestigious prize. For the next two days, the children set about designing their own prize winning village. We discussed features they may have but that ultimately, the children were in charge of what was included in their villages.

We ended up with Six villages.

We even had a visit from the judge of the BBC contest (Mr. Walter Moore!) to choose the winning one…!

Over the coming days, each village continued to receive correspondence with tasks relating to their villages. Famous families came for a visit and sent postcards home; we also sent formal letters objecting to British Rail wanting to add a train line through the villages.
